Weatherill invites Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to visit South Australia

Prince William, Kate and Premier Jay Weatherill last night.

PREMIER Jay Weatherill has used a gathering of the prestigious 30 Club in London to invite the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to visit South Australia.

Mr Weatherill sat next to Prince William, who gave the keynote address at the exclusive Claridge's Hotel in Mayfair.

When he arrived, Mr Weatherill said he had some nerves before meeting the royals but looked forward to inviting them to visit SA.

Mr Weatherill said the royals were wonderful company.

"We had a lovely chat about Australia and all of the wonderful things it has to offer and particularly South Australia," he said.

"I was very happy to be here and to have the opportunity to make a very important international citizen like the Duke of Cambridge aware of  our beautiful state."

Mr Weatherill said that Prince William had given a very warm and personal speech.

 

He spoke very honestly and warmly about himself, his experiences and his hopes for the future.

The 30 Club, which dates back to  1905, brings together the heads of  major businesses and adver- tising agencies.

Mr Weatherill did not reveal what response the royals gave to his invitation to visit SA in the future.

THE Duchess of Cambridge was the epitome of glamour last night as she and Prince William marked his impending 30th birthday with a speech to an elite private club.

 

Kate, already 30, dazzled in a floor-length cream dress and £450 Jimmy Choo Vamp sandals as her husband addressed senior figures from the advertising industry at a dinner hosted by the Thirty Club at Claridge’s, London. 

One aide said: “You can’t go around making speeches to these types of people when you’re in your 20s but he’ll be doing more of this sort of thing now he’s that bit older.”

THE Duchess of Cambridge was the epitome of glamour last night as she and Prince William marked his impending 30th birthday with a speech to an elite private club.

 

Kate, already 30, dazzled in a floor-length cream dress and £450 Jimmy Choo Vamp sandals as her husband addressed senior figures from the advertising industry at a dinner hosted by the Thirty Club at Claridge’s, London.

Kate Middleton wows in ivory gown with thigh-high split at private dinner 

Kate Middleton deviated from her usual reserved and wholesome look when she turned out for a private dinner last night wearing a floor-length gown with a thigh-high split.

The Duchess of Cambridge beamed as she stepped out in Mayfair with Prince William who was looking equally sharp in a black suit and bow tie. 

The pair were attending an exclusive event at Claridge’s Hotel, held by the prestigious Thirty Club.

Unusually, Kate's perfect pins were on show for all to see as she made her way up the red carpet clutching a silver beaded bag.

She accessorised the slinky number – thought to be a £1,000 Roland Mouret Lombarde creation - with diamond drop earrings, a dark-red pedicure and a £485 pair of sparkly open toed Jimmy Choos.

Following in the footsteps of both Princess Diana and Prince Charles, 29-year-old William addressed members of the club in a speech.

But unlike most royal speeches, the contents have firmly been kept under wraps.

A spokeswoman for Clarence House declined to comment on the event, saying: 'It is a private engagement.'

However, a source told The Mirror: 'William has been asked several times to speak at the club but he has decided this year is the right time to accept as it is a landmark year for him and a landmark year for the royals.

'It will be a very intimate function.'
