Weatherill invites Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to visit South Australia

PREMIER Jay Weatherill has used a gathering of the prestigious 30 Club in London to invite the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to visit South Australia.

Mr Weatherill sat next to Prince William, who gave the keynote address at the exclusive Claridge's Hotel in Mayfair.

When he arrived, Mr Weatherill said he had some nerves before meeting the royals but looked forward to inviting them to visit SA.

Mr Weatherill said the royals were wonderful company.

"We had a lovely chat about Australia and all of the wonderful things it has to offer and particularly South Australia," he said.

"I was very happy to be here and to have the opportunity to make a very important international citizen like the Duke of Cambridge aware of  our beautiful state."

Mr Weatherill said that Prince William had given a very warm and personal speech.

He spoke very honestly and warmly about himself, his experiences and his hopes for the future.

The 30 Club, which dates back to  1905, brings together the heads of  major businesses and adver- tising agencies.

Mr Weatherill did not reveal what response the royals gave to his invitation to visit SA in the future.
